Ministry: Russia can use own printing ink for packaging production

MOSCOW, May 26 (PRIME) -- Russia can replace imported printing ink for production of packaging for beverages with locally-produced ink or find alternative suppliers, a spokesperson for the Industry and Trade Ministry told PRIME late on Wednesday.

“Russia has the necessary printing ink. It is produced by four full-cycle companies… The overall capacity is around 45,000 tonnes a year… Besides, we are analyzing imported analogues on alternative foreign markets and how they can be used,” he person said.

Earlier this week, a source close to Tetra Pak told PRIME that its global headquarters wanted to break ties with the Russian office, which could result in a deficit of printing ink supplies.
